How do I export the chart of accounts from ASCENDER?
Short answer
Run FIN3300 - Chart of Accounts, at Finance > Reports > Finance Reports > Summary/Miscellaneous Reports > Chart of Accounts. It "shows all existing general ledger accounts in Finance."
To get a file instead of a printout, click CSV at the top of the report page. ASCENDER disables that button on reports that do not support CSV, so if it is greyed out, this report cannot be exported that way.
The detail
FIN3300 has one parameter, and it is required:
| Parameter | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sort by | Fund/Acct (A), Organization (O) | A sorts by fund, then by account. O sorts by organization. |
The ASCENDER Business Overview describes the buttons at the top of the report page:
- Preview shows the report on screen.
- PDF makes a PDF of the report.
- CSV makes a CSV file of the report. "If the button feature does not apply to the selected report, it is disabled."
One thing to know before you open the file: ASCENDER says that when a report is exported to CSV, "the report headers may not be included."
The FIN3300 documentation does not say whether its CSV button is enabled, so this page does not claim it either way. Check the button on your own screen.
